Hello ZOE
What is it they say about big trips usually… the adventure begins at home? Well the bus ride from our own Wesley Mission Center to Terminal A at DFW Airport was a great beginning. Amy Huffines did an awesome job of driving us to the airport and NOT knocking the top off the bus by stopping herself from driving right into the garage at the airport. Fast, smart thinking Amy!
We arrived at DFW all in one piece for a smooth and easy check-in for AA Flight 1013 direct to Guatemala City.
The Team is…
Senior Pastor David Alexander (who has already wondered off once)
Wesley Mission Center Director Teresa Sherwood
Audio Visual Professionals Zack Stewart, Carter Rose, and Nicki Cathro
Art & Mary Scott Brucks
Duane and Darren Baker
David & Teresa Franklin
John Garcia
Rae Huffstetter
Myron “The world traveller” Kimball
Mary Jane Mitch
Me (your journalist) Taylor & Sally Davis
Todays goal is pretty simple. Get to airport. Check. Get to Guatemala City. We are about half way (ummm… that should put us somewhere about over the Florida Panhandle right now???) there right now on the flight. Get to the Hotel San Jorge in Guatemala City and have a great Pollo Campero (fried chicken) dinner.
I did sit for a moment earlier this week to pray and prepare my thoughts for this week of holy work. I listed three simple goals for myself and for the week.
- To stop the noise. Take a break. Go to Guatemala with little expectation and little anxiety to be with and hear God. I talked to Sally about not keeping up too much with work back home. Not worrying about the hotel, food, and all the comforts & conveniences too much.
- Take a week to be with and focus on Sally. I am so glad she is here and want her to feel that is true.
- Get to know and understand the mission that ZOE is fulfilling in the world. I want to listen and learn first hand what a well planned tithe can do.
